What changed?
The law made mid-segment housing subject to a legal maximum rent, so landlords can no longer price those homes freely. It also added more transparency requirements for new contracts. Since 1 January 2025, a point calculation must be included with every new rental contract. That makes it easier for tenants to see how the rent was determined.
What should you check?
If you sign a new contract, check whether the landlord has included the required point calculation and whether the rent matches the type of housing offered. If that calculation is missing, ask for it in writing before you sign. If you already signed and the paperwork is incomplete, keep all documents and seek advice quickly. HuisPing can help you find listings faster, but the legal check still has to happen before you commit.
